“Where in the World is Christopher Park?” Festival, Sep. 23

What: The Christopher Park Festival will be the first of its kind to celebrate this hidden gem of San Francisco, building connections among the diverse organizations, businesses and individuals that comprise our beautiful community. Highlights of the Festival include:

  • 11 am – A Doggie Fashion Show with MC Senator Scott Wiener 
  • 1:00 – Tribute to Mike Lefiti
  • 1:05 – Pet Photo Contest Awards Officiated by Supervisor Jeff Sheehy
  • Live Music from community artists
  • 11:30 – 1-hour history walking tour of Diamond Heights covering everything from milk ranches to unrealized skyscrapers to Modernist architecture to a KGB drop site
  • Fabulous hot dogs for purchase from Let’s Be Frank

When: Saturday, September 23, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where: George Christopher Playground, 5210 Diamond Heights Blvd. behind the Diamond Heights Shopping Center

Parking: Free at the San Francisco Police Academy, 350 Amber Drive next to the park for those able to negotiate the steps to the park. Access for people with disabilities is through the Diamond Heights Shopping Center.

If you are not disabled, please do not park at the shopping center in consideration of customers.

Cost: Free

Entertainment: Little Folkies, Eric Beatty and the Party Ants, Pat Wilder Band, The Canyon Birds Jazz Trio and DJ Jack & Johana Soulful House

Children’s Activities: Tree Frog Treks reptiles, bounce houses, scavenger hunt and planting activities

Resource Booths: Friends of Christopher Park, DHCA, Diamond Heights Blvd. Median Project, Diamond Heights NERT, SFFD Fire Engine, SFPD, Glen Park Neighborhoods History Project, Noe Valley Nursery School, Dept. of Emergency Management, SF Village, ADRC, DAAS, Recology, Cielito Lindo Montessori School, St. Aidan’s Church, and other community groups

Table Signups Still Available: Sign up for a table to promote your organization. Due to permit restrictions we cannot have vending; however, suggested donation-based activities or just simple donation boxes are permitted. Sign-ups for programs, wait lists to buy products, so forth are allowed. We encourage tables to be engaging/interactive, and to especially provide activities for children.

There is a suggested $20 fee to have a table, and that fee is waived if you are a nonprofit. The $20 fee is a tax-deductible donation to Friends of Christopher Park, and we will provide a table and two chairs. Please email betsy.eddy@gmail.com for a table sign up form.

The Friends of Christopher Park, and the Diamond Heights Community Association, the Noe Valley Nursery School and the San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department are delighted to present the festival and spread the word about our organizations and proposed park improvements. Funding is provided by grants from the SF Parks Alliance, the Glen Park Festival and from community sponsors.
