New Info for SF Planning Hearing on June 26 at City Hall for 104’ AT&T Wireless Antenna monopole to be located at the Police Academy

DHCA Board Opposition Vote

The San Francisco Planning Commission will hold a hearing on a proposed 104’ monopole with cell phone antennas to be located adjacent to the SF Police Academy at 350 Amber Way.

The hearing will take place on Thursday, June 26 at 12 p.m. at City Hall, Room 400. All concerned residents are encouraged to attend to express their opposition or support.

The DHCA Board met on June 11 to consider all positions opposed to and in support of the 104’ monopole. The majority of the Board voted to oppose the 104’ monopole.

Positions in opposition

  • Community notification and engagement have been insufficient.
  • High power equipment near homes and dry foliage is a fire risk concern.
  • The 104’ height of the monopole will be unsightly to residents of Diamond Heights as well as visitors to Christopher Park and Glen Canyon Park.
  • Risk to property values near the 104’ monopole.

Position in support

  • Desire to eliminate AT&T dead zones for wireless coverage.
